HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — Shelby County law-enforcement officers are joining forces for a very important mission, but this time, they won’t be holding handcuffs.

Instead of hearing from commanding officers, they’ll be taking orders from restaurant customers to raise money for the Special Olympics. The Tip a Cop fundraiser will benefit the Special Olympics.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Birmingham Police, Hoover Police and Homewood Police will be waiting tables at the California Pizza Kitchen at the Riverchase Galleria. The Tip a Cop fundraiser starts at 5 p.m. Friday.
