Pennsylvania man facing assault charges over Big Mac

(WIAT) — A Pennsylvania man is facing assault charges after fighting over hamburgers.

Police say 47-year-old Thomas Veres attacked his brother after he didn’t save a Big Mac for him. Police said Veres realized his brother had eaten three Big Macs without setting one aside. That’s when Veres knocked over furniture, threw food and punched his brother, Matthew, in the face.

A neighbor said Matthew stopped by their home earlier in the evening and offered them one of the burgers.

“I got a knock at the door from my neighbor, Matt. He asked if my husband wanted a Big Mac, that he had three and we could have one if we wanted. I said, ‘Well, it’s kind of late and he’s eating some popcorn right now, but thanks for asking,’” said Angela Bekavac, neighbor.

Thomas Veres is charged with simple assault and harassment.
