TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT)- History has been made with the latest Associated Press top 25 poll. The Alabama Crimson Tide are ranked No. 2, up one spot from last week. The Auburn Tigers remain No. 6.
For the first time ever 10 SEC teams have cracked the top 25. Georgia (10th), LSU (14th), Texas A&M (16th), Ole Miss (17th) Arkansas (18th), Missouri (21st), Tennessee (23rd) and Mississippi State (25th) all made the list.
Texas A&M made the biggest jump after beating then No. 15 Arizona State on Saturday 38-17. The Aggies were unranked to start the season.
With this latest poll Alabama now plays all eight of its SEC games against ranked teams. The only SEC team in the top 25 that the Tide don’t play is Missouri.
Auburn will face seven ranked teams. The only unranked SEC foe the Tigers will face is Kentucky.
Ohio State remains a unanimous No.1 with all 61 first place votes. The Buckeyes beat Virginia Tech Monday night 42-24.
