The shopping plaza is located near West Lake Drive off of Bessemer Super Highway. Bessemer Police Chief Nathaniel Rutledge tells WIAT 42 that he believes illegal gambling activities were occurring in a small building behind the plaza. WIAT 42 spoke to Jake Seger, one of the owners of the building, and he says he rented that building as an apartment to a tenant. Several business owners were too scared to talk to us on or off camera.
