BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — It was a record-breaking weekend for the city of Birmingham. According to Gene Hallman from Bruno Event Team, fans from all over the country spent more than an estimated $10 million while they were in town for the soccer game.
According to Robert Yarbrough, who handles all of the food and beverages services for Legion Field, more numbers were shattered.
“Legion Field set a record of bottled water sales,” he explained, “including going back to when Alabama played in front of 92,000 people in 2003.”
They both say this bodes well for the future of sporting events in the Magic City.
“All of these things help build our resume as a community and help us strengthen our image as a great sports event town,” Hallman said.
