BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: A 15 year old who was accidentally shot Monday night is said to be in stable condition.
According to Birmingham police Lt. Sean Edwards, the 15 year old was playing with the gun when it discharged.
An unidentified 20-year-old who was at the scene has been charged for negligence.
ORIGINAL: A teen is suffering from life-threatening injuries sustained in a shooting in Birmingham, police confirmed.
Birmingham PD said a 15-year-old was accidentally shot in the chest at 604 Sundale Drive. Reportedly, the injuries are life threatening.
The teen has been transported to UAB Hospital instead of Children’s Hospital because of the extent of the injuries, a Birmingham Police officer told WIAT.
Two individuals are being questioned about the shooting, police said.
