What does it mean when the WIAT 42 Storm Track Meteorologists declare a Weather Aware day?
Weather Aware is designed to make you aware of the risk of in climate weather for parts of the area. While this is not the most extreme of alerts, it will serve to keep you aware of the possibility of storms or extremes in weather for Central Alabama.
A Weather Aware Day would be declared when there is marginally impending weather to affect our area.

- Hail up to quarter to one-half inch
- Isolated flash flooding
- Isolated strong to severe storms in the viewing area

A Weather Alert Day would be used when there is impending weather that affect our area
- Severe Weather
- Tornado Threat
- Winter Weather
- Dangerous Heat and Cold
- Lightning and Large Hail
- Damaging Straight line winds
