Accident in Cullman County claims the life of Fairfield woman

CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT)– An early morning accident in Cullman County has claimed the life of a Fairfield woman.

Trooper Curtis Summerville with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency tells WIAT42 News that 26-year-old Shequita Wallace was a passenger in an SUV driven by 23-year-old Gerald Tolbert of Birmingham when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a culvert, and overturned.  Wallace was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.  She died at the scene. Tolbert, and another passenger, were transported to a Huntsville hospital.

The crash happened on I-65 at mile marker 299, two miles south of Dodge City around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.  The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
