BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – With November being National Adoption Month, the Children’s Aid Society is speaking out for the 260 children waiting to be adopted in Alabama. The Children’s Aid Society partners with the Alabama Department of Human Resources under Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections.
Leslie Hales is the Pre-Adoption Service Coordinator for Children’s Aid Society. She knows about parent-children partnering personally. In 2010, Hales adopted Mary, when she was 12-years-old.
“It was because it was what God wanted me to do,” Hales said.
The Children’s Aid Society focuses specifically on adopting out older children, sibling groups and children with special needs.
“They’re waiting. They’re waiting on us because they want to be adopted. Just because they are older doesn’t mean that they do not want a forever family. I’m almost 40-years-old and I still call my mom when I need her. And they need a mom too,” said Hales.
If you visit HeartGalleryAlabama.com, you will find pictures and videos of all the children who are looking for loving homes in our state.
Hale said the Children’s Aid Society is always looking for interested adoptive parents. All you need is patience and an open heart.
