MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. (WIAT) — The Mountain Brook City Manager’s office confirmed they passed an ordinance to allow Uber into the City.
Mountain Brook City Manager Sam Gaston said the Uber ordinance will be in effect starting on Saturday, Nov. 28. The city says it will probably be a few weeks until Uber is fully operational within the city of Mountain Brook.
Uber released a statement saying:
“It’s great to hear that the Mountain Brook City Council proactively passed sensible regulations enabling Uber to operate in the community, and we thank the Council for their leadership. We look forward to providing Mountain Brook residents with safe rides, and greater Birmingham area residents with economic opportunity in the future.”
Uber also said that riders will be able to request an car in Mountain Brook and get dropped off wherever they’d like to go.
