(WIAT) – As the holiday season has officially arrived, many cities around the Birmingham area are participating in a multitude of festivities. Gather the whole family and go to a tree lighting or Christmas parade this season!
December 5: Alabaster’s annual Christmas parade in downtown Alabaster; 10:30 a.m.
December 4-6: Arlington Historic Home and Gardens at Arlington Antebellum Home and Gardens; Click HERE for times
December 6: Christmas open house at Bessemer City Hall, 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
December 1: City of Birmingham Park and Recreation Board tree lighting at Vulcan Park and Museum, 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
December 5: Tree lighting at 10:30 a.m. with Mayor William Bell at the CrossPlex; Annual Christmas Parade at 12:30 p.m. outside of CrossPlex.
December 10-11: Holiday Music Concert at Alabama School of Fine Arts; 7:30 p.m.
December 12: Jingle Bell Run/Walk for the Arthritis Foundation at Railroad Park; Activities start at 8 a.m., race begins at 9 a.m.
December 15-16: Wacky Tacky Christmas Light Tour at Avolndale Brewing Company; Click HERE for Times
December 19: Alabama Symphony Orchestra presents Handel’s Messiah at the Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center; 7: 30 p.m.
November 20-December 19: North Pole Express at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum; Click HERE for times
December 3: Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony in downtown Columbiana; 7 p.m.
December 1: Winter Wonderland Annual Christmas tree lighting, Black Creek Park; 6 p.m.
November 28-December 27: Gilley’s Christmas Lights, 413 Gilley Road; 5-9 p.m. on weekdays, 5-10 p.m. on weekends. Check their Facebook page to make sure lights run that night, free event.
December 1: The Lighting of the Star presented by Homewood Chamber of Commerce; 18th Street at 5:30 p.m.
December 8: Homewood Christmas parade and tree lighting; 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.
December 10: The Santa Experience at Homewood Public Library; 6:30-7:30
December 11: Annual Christmas parade in downtown Leeds
December 4: Capitol Christmas tree lighting ceremony and open house; 5:30 p.m.
December 6: Holiday parade at Mountain Brook Village; 3 p.m.
