TALLADEGA, Ala. (WIAT) — The Talladega Sheriff’s Department got a call after 8 p.m. Monday about shots fired on Oakdale Road in the Alpine area.
According to Sheriff Kilgore, when deputies arrived, they found John William Lowe Jr. and Stephen Ryan King laying in the driveway with gunshot wounds.
Lowe was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center and was pronounced dead at the hospital. King was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kilgore said Lowe’s wife was inside the home at the time of the incident. She heard her husband giving directions to someone on the roadway, and soon after she heard the shots and found her husband and son shot in the driveway.
“When you lose two family members at the same time, words just can hardly portray the tragedy there,” Kilgore said.
There were no witnesses so police do not have any suspects at this time, nor do they know the cause of the shooting.
Investigators worked through the night to process the scene.
“Our hearts go out to the family and we’re hopeful someone will come forward with some information,” Kilgore said. “If you have any information, no matter how small it might seem, please call us.”
Anyone with information should call the Talladega Sheriff at 256-761-2141.
