TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — One person was shot in Tuscaloosa this afternoon and taken to the hospital for treatment.
The shooting happened in the Burger King Parking lot around 2:45 on McFarland Boulevard East. Authorities with the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit said a Hispanic male was shot, and that it appears the shooting may be a result of a robbery or drug deal. Investigators are talking with witnesses trying to get more information as to what happened.
Captain Gary Hood with the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit says, “We have one subject that has been shot suffering from at least one gunshot wound. That subject has been transported to Birmingham. We have one person in custody who might be involved and we have several witnesses we are interviewing. We recovered evidence at the scene so its still under investigation.”
The gunshot victim has been taken to a Birmingham hospital. Hood said the victim is in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
