BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a convicted rapist who disappeared in October.
WIAT and the Sheriff’s Office are partnering to track down missing sex offenders in our community. Montairus Sanders, 28, was last registered as living in a house in the 600 block of 13th Street in Midfield. He was supposed to check in with the sex offender unit in October.
Sheriff’s deputies did a home check in November and discovered that Sanders wasn’t living on 13th Street. The homeowner told deputies that he didn’t even know Sanders.

Sanders is wanted for Providing False Information during Registration and Failure to Register Quarterly. Each warrant carries a $15,000 bond.
Sheriff Mike Hale says that residents can check their addresses and neighborhoods to see where sex offenders are registered. The sheriff’s office website has a map where you can search by offender name or address.
Deputies don’t know where Sanders might be living. If you see him, you should call the Jefferson County Sexual Predator hotline at 205-325-4779.
