ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A St. Clair County teenager who pleaded guilty to killing his half sister is heading to prison.
18-year old John Salers was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison.
He will receive credit for time served.
Salers is charged with capital murder for the death of 9-year old Katelyn Arnold.
Her body was found hanging from a tree outside their Ragland home in May of 2012.
Investigators told WIAT 42 in 2013 Salers admits he killed Arnold, but he did not reveal a motive for the killing.
Both children were staying with their aunt and uncle, who were acting as foster parents, at the time of the killing.
