Tuscaloosa police searching for sexual assault suspect who posed as security guard

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Tuscaloosa Police say they are searching for a suspect who sexually assaulted a woman in her motel room after claiming he was a security guard.

According to Lt. K.T. Hart, the 30-year-old victim from Georgia told investigators she woke up in her motel room to a black male sexually assaulting her.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s to 30s in blue jeans and a hoodie.

Hart says the victim told investigators that a friend brought her back to her motel room at America’s Best Value Inn on McFarland Blvd after they went out. When she was going to her room, a black male who claimed he was a security guard at the motel approached them and said he would help her to her room.

The victim reportedly fell asleep and woke up after a few hours to the male who said he was a security guard assaulting her. The motel reports they do not have a security guard.

Tuscaloosa Police say they responded to the call around 8 a.m. on the morning on Jan. 2, 2016.

The victim was treated at DCH then released.
