BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested a suspect in a car break in late Wednesday night after chasing him on foot.

According to Randy Chistian with the Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Wynston Kenderre Ellis was arrested after deputies responded to a car burglary in process report in the 1800 block of Bond Circle. Upon arriving, Christian said they found Ellis leaning in the window of a white Ford Escape with the window broken out and the alarm going off.

Christian says Ellis fled on foot after seeing the deputies. He was reportedly captured after a brief foot pursuit.

Ellis was charged with unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle, attempting to elude, and public intoxication.

Christian says Ellis remains in the Jefferson County Jail on a bond of $21,500.
