Alabamians cross state lines for Powerball tickets

Powerball Tennessee

(WIAT) — On Wednesday, dozens lined up in Tennessee convenient stores to buy lottery tickets. They’re all hoping for the chance to win the $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot.

The sign outside of the store may read “Tennessee”, but the cars in the parking lot say “Alabama”.

Employees say they’ve sold thousands of Powerball tickets.

Crystal Green said, “”Nearly every person that comes in the doors says ‘I’m from Alabama I don’t know what I’m doing’, ‘I’m from Alabama I’ve never played the lottery before’ or ‘I’m from Alabama tell me what to do'”.
