ADAMSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: According to State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk, a child was playing with fire, which ignited the futon and spread to the rest of the home.
ORIGINAL: Authorities now know the origin of the fire that killed four people at a home in Adamsville.
The fire chief tell us the fire started from a futon sofa located in the dining room at this home on veterans memorial drive.
Eight people were inside the home. Four managed to escape.
71-year-old Pearlie Jones, 20-year-old Kenneth Hines, six-year-old Coren Walter, and four-year-old Robert Armstrong all died.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined at this time.
The surviving family members are accepting donations to help with funeral costs.
