Police ID body found in Cullman drainage ditch

CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Jeffrey Shane Cagle. Investigators believe he was trespassing at the time of his death.

According to Craig Green, Assistant Chief of Police, the autopsy was completed on Wednesday but the full report won’t come in for several weeks.

The initial report indicates the injuries are consistent with a fall from the building. Nothing has been revealed that indicates foul play at this time.

ORIGINAL: Cullman City Assistant Police Chief Green said a body has been found at a motel construction site on Highway 157.

The body was found in a drainage ditch, and Green said it appeared to have fallen from the building. The man was not an employee and was not authorized to be on site.

Nothing further is available at this time.
