Former Chilton County deputy sentenced to 20 years for student sex related charges

CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Former Chilton County deputy, school resource officer and teacher David Hubbard has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for student sex related charges today, according to District Attorney Randall Houston.

Houston says Hubbard pleaded guilty to four counts of School Employee Engaging in a Sex Act with a student under 19, one count of Rape in the 2nd Degree and one count of enticing a child for immoral purposes.

Robinson told CBS42 in 2014 that Hubbard and his wife Rebecca were accused of second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy, facilitating travel of a child for an unlawful sex act, school employee engaging in a sex act with a student under 19, enticing a child for immoral purposes, school employee having sexual contact with a student under 19 and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Rebecca Hubbard pleaded guilty in August 2015 to two counts of Rape in the Second Degree, one count of a School Employee having Sexual Contact with a Student Less than 19, one count of Enticing a Child for Immoral Purposes, and one count of a School Employee Committing a Sexual Act with a Student Less than 19.

The charges came after four victims were discovered following an investigation that began on June 19 of 2014. Investigators found information that linked the Hubbards to supplying an underage female with alcohol the day before a three-car accident on Highway 145 left one man dead and two others hospitalized.

District Attorney Randall Houston said, “Life is about choices.  This morning, I spoke to a thousand Chilton County School System juniors and seniors, at a life awareness conference, on the topic of ‘choices matter.’  I am struck by the fact that some of these are the same children David Hubbard was supposed to be helping.  Choices do matter and the ones David made negatively affected many, many lives.

“Today we have ensured Hubbard will never have the opportunity to betray the public trust by working in law enforcement again. His behavior is disgusting and he deserves to rot in prison for the way he lured and took advantage of these young victims.”
