TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — After winning five straight and playing their way into NCAA Tournament conversations, the Alabama Crimson Tide trailed the entire second half and couldn’t overcome a difficult shooting night in a 67-61 loss to Mississippi State at Coleman Coliseum.
The Tide managed to get within one a couple of times, but the Bulldogs had an answer for each of them, including a final shot by IJ Ready with 22 seconds left to put the game out of reach.
Alabama was led by Retin Obasohan and Shannon Hale, who both had 22 points, with Hale coming off the bench. The rest of Alabama’s starters went 6-15 on the night, with Riley Norris and Michael Kessens failing to get a shot off in the game.
The Bulldogs were consistent throughout the game, shooting 49 percent from the field and 41 percent from three. Four State players finished in double figures with Quinndary Weatherspoon leading the way with 15 points.
Alabama will travel to Lexington, KY Tuesday to face Kentucky. The game is set to tip off at 6:00 p.m.
