BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — For the first time, Mayor William Bell spoke openly about the proposed changes to the Mayor-Council Act.
He broke his silence today on the CBS42 Morning News with Art Franklin.
“I’ve asked them to look at the Mayor-Council Act to see if there could be some parity or equity in the application. There is some confusion as to what the role of the mayor is in term of city government,” Bell said. “And so I felt that because the legislature created it, the Mayor-Council Act, that they would be the appropriate body to look at it to see if changes are needed. And I’ll leave that up to their decision, whatever they decide. They asked me for a wish list, they asked the council for a wish list, and we’ll see where it goes from there.”
