BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Jefferson County deputies need your help finding a missing sex offender.
CBS 42 News and the sheriff’s office are partnering to track down missing sex predators in our community.
Kewan Wells, 34, is hiding from law enforcement. He was convicted of raping a 24-year-old woman in Jefferson County.
Wells was supposed to register in January but didn’t. Deputies went to his last address and found he was gone. Sheriff Mike Hale says these criminals know better than to run.
“It is a tough law, but they’re tough offenders,” Sheriff Hale said.
“They have shown that it’s a law that they will break and we are committed to keep a watch on them,” he continued.
Wells is believed to be in the Bessemer area. If you’ve seen him or know of his whereabouts, please call the Jefferson County Sexual Predator hotline at (205) 325-4779.
