BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: Birmingham police say the toddler is stable at Children’s hospital. The adult victim is alive but his condition is unknown at this time.
Birmingham police are investigating after a toddler and adult male were shot at a local gas station.
Birmingham police spokesperson Sgt. Bryan Shelton tells us that a toddler and adult were injured in a shooting shortly after 6 p.m. at the Mystik gas station on Warrior Rd.
The toddler and adult male that were injured were inside a vehicle with another adult at the time of the shooting. The uninjured adult drove the victims to Spur Groceries on the 900 block of Pike Rd. for help.
Angelica Williams lives across the street from Spur Groceries and told CBS42 what she witnessed.
“When the car pulled up, instantly the daddy jumped out and started working on the baby on the trunk of the car, medics responded and that’s when I saw all of the blood, the baby was crying at first and the ambulance did pull up, and when they did pull up, the baby was neutral,” she said.
“I’m praying that the baby is alive and well and doing okay, and there was another, and there was another pedestrian in the car, he was slumped over, so he was shot too, they took him to the hospital too, it was three adults and a baby in the car,” Williams concluded.
The toddler has been transported to Children’s hospital and the adult victim has been transported to UAB for treatment. No information is available on the extent of injuries at this time.
Authorities are still at both scenes investigating this incident.
We have crews at the scenes as well working to get more information.
