BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — UAB isn’t wasting any time getting back into playing the big boys of college football. The Blazers announced Monday they will face Texas A&M at Kyle Field on September 22nd, 2018.
“Scheduling games our players and fans can look forward to is another important part of the big picture,” UAB head coach Bill Clark said in a release. “We are excited for the opportunity to play Texas A&M in one of the premier venues in college football.
Prior to the shut down of the program in 2014, UAB traveled to many schools across the southeast for non-conference games. In their final season, the Blazers faced both Arkansas and Mississippi State of the SEC.
When UAB returns as a full member of FBS football in 2017, they will face Florida in Gainesville on November 18th, 2017.
“We look forward to announcing the full 2018 nonconference schedule and other exciting news soon,” UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram said in a release. “UAB Football continues to build on an impressive upward trajectory, and we look forward to sharing the ride with our fans and supporters.”
UAB’s first football game after the suspension of the program will be September 2nd, 2017 against Alabama A&M at Legion Field.
