BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A new way for young girls to find purpose in their life is coming to Huffman High School this May. The Girls Making A Difference Teen Empowerment Summit will be led by Dr. Kecia Ashley on May 1st.
G.M.A.D. comes from a collaboration between Dr. Ashley and Huffman’s assistant principal after expressing a desire to see more mentorship programs for the female students there.
The summit will cover topics like self esteem, walking in purpose, financial literacy, college, and more.
A mini session will be held at Huffman High School on April 28th. It is open only to female students. A larger session will be held May 1st at Huffman High for all students. It begins at 3 p.m.
