UPDATE X2 (APRIL 24, 2016): The daughter of Wayne Anthony Hawes is speaking about her father, saying he was “a ticking time bomb.” She also said that Hawes threatened to kill her grandmother and mother a day before the shootings.
UPDATE (APRIL 23, 2016): Georgia authorities say the man behind the deadly shootings has been found dead, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Columbia County, Georgia, sheriff’s office found 50 year old Wayne Anthony Hawes’ body at his home. Police are still looking for a motive, but say, he knew the victims.
COLUMBIA, Ga. (WJBF) — A coroner says five people are dead: two in one location, two in the other, and one dead at Augusta University.
Columbia County dispatch confirmed that two people are dead at a shooting on Johnson Drive. They have also confirmed that two other victims are dead in a shooting that happened on Rosemont Road. WJBF is reporting the shootings are connected.
The shooter is still on the loose. Investigators are looking for 50-year-old Wayne Anthony. Deputies say the suspect knew victims and they are trying to figure out the motive
