6 days in Arizona with the ‘Border Keepers of Alabama’

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Border security is a huge talking point this election season. That’s partly because the United States’ border with Mexico sees billions of dollars’ worth of illegal activity, with drugs and people passing through unlawfully on a daily basis. One group of Alabamians says it’s taking steps to protect the border, traveling 1,600 miles to enforce the law they say the federal government isn’t.

We wanted to see it for ourselves, so we spent six days in Arizona with the “Border Keepers of Alabama.” We’ll give you a look at the border few people get to see and the impact it has on Alabamians’ daily lives.
