SAN DIEGO, Calif. (WIAT) — Donald Trump could be facing legal issues soon after the general election this fall. A class-action lawsuit against the now-defunct “Trump University” is set for November 28th.
The judge agreed to wait until after election day on November 8th but denied a request from Trump’s lawyers to delay the start of the trial until next year.
The lawsuit alleges the school misled students and scammed them out of thousands of dollars. The students claim they never received an education in real estate, calling the classes “infomercials” encouraging them to buy more seminars and workshops.
Trump’s lawyers say he may be called to testify as a witness. They plan to argue that it’s the student’s own responsibility to see success after completing the program.
The San Diego case isn’t the only one against Trump University set to go to trial. A lawsuit in New York could be heard as early as this fall.
