PELL CITY, Ala. (WIAT) — Pell City Police are investigating a threatening message aimed at Pell City High School which was reportedly written on a bathroom stall at a Winn Dixie.
Superintendent of Pell City Schools, Dr. Michael Barber, says the threat had a date attached, May 20th, which is a testing day.
Barber says there are additional SRO’s and extra security in place at PCHS this week. He says there is also a security plan for Friday.
Parents were informed through an automated call system on Tuesday and students were also notified, according to the superintendent.
“We knew that that would definitely cause some concern and that’s why we wanted to try to let our parents know that we are taking every precaution that we can, taking every precaution. And we feel that you don’t take any threat lightly against the school system or our student body,” said Barber.
The superintendent says students whose parents decide to keep them home on Friday will be allowed to make up their tests.
