Birmingham Police searching for suspect in gas station robbery

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Police are searching for a suspect that allegedly robbed a gas station on Sunday.

The robbery took place at the Chevron on 700 Springville Road, at about 11:50 in the morning, according to a release from the department. A black male wearing a checkered blue-and-white button down with peach colored shorts and white boat shoes entered the store. He waited at the register until the employee opened the drawer and allegedly reached over to take money from it.

Another employee engaged in a scuffle with the suspect before he fled in a 2013-2016 Buick Enclave. The department is asking anyone with any information to contact Detective Harless at 254-1753.
