Free internet access possibly coming to parts of Tuscaloosa in the fall

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — City leaders are proposing a plan to grant free internet access to people in western Tuscaloosa.

If approved, internet access would be free on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between 15th Street and 29th Street would be free.

Almost 8,500 people would benefit, and the project will cost an estimated $70,000 dollars.

If city council signs off on the plan, they hope to have the free wi-fi network in place this fall.
