HELENA, Ala. (WIAT) — Helena emergency services worked together Wednesday night to rescue stranded boaters on the Cahaba, according to tweets from Helena Police.

Both the Fire Department and the Police were involved in the rescue, as severe storms released heavy rain in the area. Helena Police put a heavy police presence in the Cahaba Falls and Riverwoods neighborhoods due to the rescue efforts, but are now dispersing.

The boaters have been found and are safe as of about 9:50 p.m.
