BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The sweltering, downright dangerous heat continues for Central Alabama this afternoon. Temperatures have reached the low and mid 90s, with the feels like temperature checking in at 100°+. Storms have also fired up, but they aren’t moving much. These storms will form and rain themselves out through the rest of the afternoon and evening. Tonight we’ll be left with just some clouds and mild temperatures. Lows will fall to the mid 70s Sunday morning.
Sunday looks to be a repeat of today, with another round of very warm temperatures and isolated to scattered showers and t-storms. Highs will reach the mid and low 90s again.
Our rain chances do ramp up for next work week, with temperatures staying in the low to mid 90s range. Rain chances look to be in the more widely scattered (40%) range from Monday all the way through Friday. With relatively unstable atmosphere, look for some of the storms we see to be of the strong variety, with lightning, small hail, gusty wind, and lots of rain.
