JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) — North Carolina police continue their investigation into the shooting death of 32-year-old Ryan Apollo Morgan, an Alabama native and US Airman.
Morgan died Sunday after being involved in a shooting in downtown Goldsboro, NC.
He graduated from Curry High School in 2002, and many in the Jasper community where he grew up can not believe he’s gone. Assistant Principal Eric Woodley tells CBS42 News that Morgan was a good student and good athlete.
“His death is a shock, I know many people in his family and they are grieving,” Woodley said. “To everybody who knew him, he was an outstanding guy who wanted to serve our country. He wanted to do all he could for our country and society. He was an outstanding person and an outstanding student while he was here.”
After graduating, Morgan eventually moved to North Carolina to work at Seymour Johnson Air Force base as a Senior Airman.
No word yet when funeral services will take place.
