TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Thursday. thousands of University of Alabama students will begin moving back into dorms on campus. But many are getting a head start.
Haley Cotton is just one of dozens of new freshmen students moving into the Julia Tutwiler dormitory. Many families like hers spent Tuesday afternoon moving their kids into dorms on campus. Cotton says she is ready and eager to begin her new journey at Alabama.
“It is a lot of people and it is going to be a lot different than living with your parents,” she said. “I am an only child but now I am going to be living with 14 floors of all girls.”
Freshmen student Ashleigh Rye is also moving into Tutwiler.She says she is nervous as a new student on campus, but ready for the challenge.
“Oh I can’t wait, I am excited to finally be on my own. It is exciting but nerve racking too. This is it–you sink or swim,” Rye said.
Early arrival for students officially kicks off Thursday morning. Cotton says moving in on campus is scary but she is glad for a new start in her education experience.
“I am so excited and ready for football season,” she said. “I’m excited to meet new friends and meet all these new people and dive right into university life.”
Fall classes at the University of Alabama begin on August 17th.
