TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Wednesday morning hundreds of kids, families and local charity organizations got a chance to see Alabama football coach Nick Saban. It was the annual Nick’s Kids Foundation luncheon at Bryant Denny Stadium inside the Zone.
Coach Nick Saban says he and his wife do this every year to help as many kids as possible.
“We’re just happy that we are in the position to give back to the community,” Saban said.
Nick’s Kids operates by supporting charities and organizations that help children and families in Alabama. This year alone since January, Nick’s Kids has donated more than $650,000 dollars. And it was a full house Wednesday morning. Everyone was here to see coach Saban. That includes 10-year-old Kendall Williams.
“Well today is really exciting because we get to meet the Coach of Alabama Nick Saban,” Williams said.
Several Alabama players were on hand to sign autographs. Cheerleaders were all smiles, and dozens of young kids got their pictures taken. Saban and his wife say the reason they come to Nick’s Kids luncheon is because they want to give back to their community.
“Hopefully some of these kids will have a better quality of life and have an opportunity to have some success in their live because of what happens here today,” Saban said.
The Nick’s Kids Foundation over the years has donated more than five million dollars.
