BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — When most people think about children going back to school they think about the classroom activities. But what about ways to enrich the students’ education, and get them up and moving outside of the classroom?
When us grown-ups think about exercise, we imagine working out in the gym on treadmills, ellipticals, or lifting weights. But for kids exercise just means getting active.
Adam Rosante is a strength and nutrition coach, as well as, a C9 Target ambassador. He says a healthy lifestyle easy and starts at home, “Physical fitness is extremely simple when it comes to kids it’s all about keeping it fun just encourage them to run around and play, jump, run, push, pull, throw things.”
He adds that removing distractions is helpful as well, “Take them outside if possible. Take away the phone, the tablet, and tv out of their hands and their faces and just get them playing.”
There are millions of reason why physical fitness is important and Adam believes it’s all about self-confidence. “If we can flip the script and take the focus off of this ridiculous notion of striving for some time of body image or aesthetic and help kids realize that their bodies are these incredible vehicles capable of achieving absolutely anything.” Adam continues, “Get them to challenge themselves and they will believe that. It not only plants a seed for a lifetime of fitness, but it also plants the seed for a world of confidence.”
Let’s kick off the school year with healthy habits, starting with physical fitness. We will continue this series next Monday where Adam will share ways to prepare healthy lunches and snacks for the kids that won’t break the bank.
