BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A man accused of shooting at a car and injuring a child is in jail.

Police say 21-year-old Darius Bennett of Center Point told investigators he fired shots at the car because it was going too fast and it came too close to him.

A bullet shattered a passenger side window. The driver’s 5-year-old daughter was injured by the glass.

Bennett is charged with two counts of attempted murder and unlawfully carrying a pistol. He’s being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
