Trump Tower climber detained by police, taken in for psych evaluation

NEW YORK, NY. (WIAT) — UPDATE (x2): The New York Police Department has identified the climber as 19 year old Stephen Rogata of Great Falls, Virginia.  He was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and criminal trespassing.

UPDATE: The man has been detained after NYPD officers yanked him into the building from a pane where the glass had been removed.

The officers are reporting that they are taking him to receive a psychological evaluation.

ORIGINAL: A man is climbing the Trump Tower in New York.

At this time, it is unclear why he is climbing the tower. NYPD seems to be on standby.

5th and 6th Avenues are blocked off according to those at the scene, the building is located on the 700 block of 5th Avenue in New York City.

The man appears to be using an apparatus hooked up to five suction cups on the side of the building.

The building is important to Trump’s campaign, as it is not only his campaign headquarters but he also lives on the top floor of the 58-story building.
