TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a warning about a scam. We’re told someone is calling people claiming to be a deputy.

The caller then says he or she will be arrested for failure to show up for jury duty or a court date unless a money card is purchased and the numbers are given to the scammer.

The sheriff’s office says at no time will a deputy call asking for money instead of a warrant or arrest.
