BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — It’s another Weather Aware Day with lots of fast moving showers and storms coming this afternoon. The rain won’t be particularly heavy for most spots, but it will be enough to keep roads slick and be a general annoyance. Please be careful driving this afternoon and evening. There won’t be much sun to dry up the water on the ground. Showers will linger into the evening, moving from east to west. Morning lows tomorrow will fall to the mid 70s.
Not much change in the pattern over the next couple of days. The low in the Gulf of Mexico will continue to spin and produce widespread rain south of us. Flooding rains are possible from Panama City Beach over to Mobile through the next 24-36 hours. We’ll deal with more light to moderate rain, on and off for most of the day on Thursday and Friday.
By the weekend we could be turning a corner. Weather starts to make a turn for the better as the Gulf low moves farther west and gets picked up in the upper level flow. This could lead to an end of our rainy streak, but we’ll continue to watch the trends over the next few days.
