BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — At least seven people are dead and more than 11,000 are in shelters following devastating flooding in Louisiana. Now, Alabama is stepping up to help those in need.
Governor Robert Bentley’s office has reached out to Louisiana to offer assistance and prayers. Here in Birmingham, leaders will host a supply drive to collect items for people impacted by the floods.
The city is collecting bottled water and canned goods. You can drop off donations at Boutwell Auditorium beginning this Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The donation drive will wrap up on Saturday.
