LEEDS, Ala. (WIAT) – You will not find a team in the state with more to prove than Leeds.
It’s not only because they have a new head coach in Lee Gibson. The Green Wave has won back-to-back state titles and lost an incredible amount of star power on offense. Tre Nation and Tadarryl Marshall were among the best-ever in the school.
However, this year’s team says losing their best players is a good thing.
“They are hungry and understand it is their time,” Gibson said. “The quality of talent they lost from last year’s teams and the amount of publicity they got, the scholarships they signed, these guys know it is their turn and cannot live off of last year.”
Leeds begins its title defense at Lincoln on Friday night.
