NORTHPORT, Ala. (WIAT) — The investigation continues in Tuscaloosa County as investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board collect evidence from Sunday’s fatal plane crash that killed 3 married couples and orphaned 11 children.
Tuesday morning, someone paid tribute to the six victims by leaving a note and roses near the crash site. The note says, “#OxfordStrong, #PrayforOxford.” The victims were all from Oxford, Mississippi area.
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says it’s unlikely the NTSB will remove the plane wreckage Tuesday. Crews have been at the scene all day sifting through the plane parts working to find out what caused the accident. NTSB investigators were focusing on the engine and the fuel system in the aircraft’s wings. The six victims were killed when the small plane went down in a wooded area not far from the runway.
