(WIAT) — The number of people testing positive for the Zika virus is growing in Florida and other states. On Monday, Texas health experts revealed that someone from the El Paso area contracted Zika after traveling to Miami.
There are more than 100 travel related cases of Zika in Texas. In Florida, 30 people were infected with the Zika virus through local mosquito bites.
The health department has enlisted commercial pest control companies to help stop the spread. Governor Rick Scott has asked the federal government for money to pay for more staff and mosquito traps in active transmission areas in Miami.
