CENTER POINT, Ala. (WIAT) – According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a burglary at a residence in the 400 block of 19th Terrace Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on August 26.
Allen Wayne Hatley, 53, reportedly broke into a home and assaulted a male and female inside. Hatley had fled on foot before deputies had arrived.
Deputies searched and found Hatley hiding in a nearby wooded area. He struggled with deputies, but was secured and taken into custody.
The female victim told deputies that she knew Hatley and had told him not to come to her house. When she came home that evening, he was in her yard. Hatley struck her in the face, causing a cut to her forehead and a busted nose.
Hatley then entered the victim’s home and assaulted the male victim. He stabbed the male in the chest with a small pocket knife and struck his head.
Both of the victims were treated on the scene by paramedics. The male victim refused to be taken to the hospital.
While being transported to the Jefferson County Jail, Hatley passed out. Deputies took him to the hospital, where they learned that he had ingested heroin. He was admitted to the hospital.
When Hatley was released from the hospital, he was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail. Hatley is charged with Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Attempting to Elude. His bond has been set at $25,900.
