JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) – Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Doug House, a missing sex offender, and deputies need your help finding him.
House was convicted of sex abuse in St. Clair County.
Before he was released from prison in August, House submitted a new Birmingham address to the Department of Corrections. However, he didn’t alert local law enforcement.
Now he’s wanted for failing to register as a sex offender in Jefferson County.
“In prison, they are given the law. They are counseled on how to obey the sex offender notification act law,” said Mike Hale, Jefferson County Sheriff. “Sometimes they can’t just deal with the success of getting out of prison. Sometimes they feel like there are outstanding warrants against them. Whatever the reason, it’s just an excuse in their mind.”
