BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — CIA director John Brennan is in Alabama Tuesday for a visit to the Magic City and Miles College in Fairfield.
CIA Director John Brennan spent Tuesday morning with some of Birmingham’s brightest high school students. The director is working to change the look of the intelligence agency. He’s hoping that change comes from Birmingham.
One of those efforts is rooted in the center for academic excellence at Miles College. The school is the only institution in Alabama to get that designation and already putting graduates to work in the intelligence community.
“The challenges we face are so multi-dimensional, so different than they were in the past. A lot of the young students have grown up in a period of technology. They bring to our profession, I think, new insights new perspectives as well as new talents,” Brennan said.
Brennan said he’s been looking forward to visiting the Miles campus for some time.
“Miles College represents what it is that the agency is looking to be able to do in terms of partnering with schools that are dedicated to making sure their students have the opportunity to serve,” Brennan said.
